A little about me
I began exploring the world of newspapers as a young boy while my mother worked at The Miami Herald. Working nights, she would often bring me into the newsroom to keep me from getting in trouble at home. So I eventually became a part of the newsroom and always appreciated it.
As time went on, I became very interested in drawing and art. I experimented a little with charcoal sketches and painting, but nothing seemed to fit. As a freshman in high school I found my passion.
Photography hit me like a brick. I loved everything about it. The camera, the darkroom and having the world as my palette were all factors in my enjoyment.
After four years of photography classes and spending summers at The Herald with the photo staff, I graduated high school in 1996. I began community college and got a job at The Herald as a page compositor. Three years later I moved to the photo department as a photo tech.
I worked there until 2005 when I decided that it was time to finish my degree at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications.
I am currently enjoying my time as photojournalism student under the guidance of UF’s excellent professors, and will be graduating in December.
